Candy is an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and has previously served as an Assistant Regional Advisor (ARA) for SCBWI Florida. Candy's manuscripts for children's books have earned her awards from the SCBWI Rising Kite competition.
Candy, in addition to her love for telling a story, is also a photographer whose work has appeared in numerous magazines. She has had the privilege of photographing alongside James Stanfield, a renowned National Geographic photographer.
